1. Make sure your app is ready for publishing

There are two most popular stores for your app: Apple App Store and Google Play. Each store has its own policy to satisfy so that you app will be ready for the publishing process. To simplify the papers, here are the basic requirements for the app:

  • Functionality: The app should run well on the platform with full functions as expected from the developers.
  • Usefulness: The app should provide some form of lasting use and serve a particular purpose.
  • Content: The content of the app must not go against the law.
  • Intellectual Property: App that is the result of copying from other developer’s work will be expelled.
  • Maturity Requirements: The app should not contain nudity or sexual gratification
  • Confidential Information: The app must not violate personal rights.

Here are the links of policies if you want to take a closer look:

Check the Apple App Policy here: https://developer.apple.com/app-store/review/guidelines/

Check the Google Play App Policy here: https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/113474?hl=en

So now you are sure that your shiny apps are ready to be sent out to the world? Not so fast!

2. Boost your app’s popularity, before you publish it!

Things such as detail screenshots, catchy icon and detail subscriptions are what set your app apart from other competitors, and give your customers a better chance to understand your beloved masterpiece more.

If your app is going to be published onto Google Play, you can also upload a video to show the touch and feel of your app; this can be a great feature to attract users. Remember to keep the video in the required duration between 30s and 2 minutes, and shows what benefit your app can bring to the users. Upload your video first to YouTube, and then it will show up on the app’s page.

For iOS platform, you can use the URL to your video and paste it into the description or Marketing URL field. In this way, users will know where to watch the app’s features through the video before using it.

Note: Your child is rejected? – Try again!

There might be some chance that even if your app follows through every procedure successfully, the stores will still reject it due to several reasons. Don’t give up yet and follow these solutions to get the app back to the race:

Minor step 1: Review your app again based on the assessment from the stores

Minor step 2: After correcting all the necessary requirement, resubmit the app again.

4. Hooray, let’s grab the popcorn and watch downloads go through the roof!!! But wait…

So now your sales buster has been published successfully, don’t forget that there’s a huge ranking system that’s waiting to push it down every moment. Here’s a quick statistic: According to AppPromo, 59 percent of applications released on iOS actually lose money for the developer. An even more surprising number is that 80 percent do not generate enough revenue to be a stand-alone business.

Okay, so in this final step, we have some ways for your app to stay in the safe zone, stand out from the crowd and brings sales to your business.

A. Bring your child up high on the statistics:

One of the easiest ways to push your app to higher ranks is to ask friends, colleagues and staffs to download it, review it and recommend it. Of course, you can always put the app to another app market platform such as Appolicious or specialized app forums so that people might know about it. If your app is good, there’s no reason to why people don’t rush to the store (Unless your product page is like a design crime scene, which solutions we’ve talked about in Step 2).

B. Turn every customer experience to valuable moment

Be on alert with customers’ reviews and star ratings. In most situation, users look for the reviews after knowing about the app’s features. And, needless to say, one bad review without a promised solution or an unanswered question could make or break the first step of your masterpiece.

C. Never miss out the growth of your child

Keeping track of the progress is important. Imagine every time your child falls on the floor, you run to him right away and see if he gets hurt, and if the floor is slippery or a Lego piece is dropped. Your app is just like that, and if you are not prepared the tools well for this, you might lose track of the factors that affect the popularity and health of the app. There are some popular tools you can use such as Google Analytics (you can use App Analytics) or Flurry to stay alerted on the statistics.

With this guide, we give you the map to get your app to users’ hand, and all these steps are ensured carefully to ensure you maximize your app’s potential in both technical points and marketing strategy.
